Park officials in Rochelle are looking over their options on the future use of the Helms Athletic Complex.
Since the youth soccer program found a new home near Lincoln School, the majority of the grass area is open for activities this spring and summer.
The Rochelle Junior Tackle Football program uses the area for practise and games during their season.
During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen talked about the possible future use of this area. He said they could get the baseball and softball fields back in shape for games. The park district could also use the former tennis court area for a pump track that involves bike riders or a possible batting cage area.
He also said they could have playground equipment at the Helms Athletic Complex along with a shelter which would have restrooms.
No final decisions have been made by the park board at this time.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
