Rochelle Police arrested a 16-year old boy from Carpentersville along with a local man this morning following a vehicle chase that involved a stolen pick-up truck.
The incident began at around midnight as local police received word from Ogle County Sheriff's Police of a stolen pick-up truck west of Rochelle which was traveling east bound on Route 38 toward the city.
Officers located the truck as the teen would not stop for police. The chase ended up on Illinois 251 towards Hillcrest. The teen crashed the truck in a cornfield just north of Twombly Road. He was not injured.
Police learned that the boy from Carpentersville had escaped on Saturday from the Nachusa juvenile facility in Lee County.
He was arrested on the charge of aggravated fleeing to elude police, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and reckless driving. He also received tickets for improper lane usage, driving without headlights when required, 4 counts of disobeying a stop sign, and 2 counts of failure to signal when required.
The teen remains in custody this morning. Additional charges are pending by Ogle County Sheriff's Police.
Local police also arrested 43-year old Christopher Combs of Rochelle who was the owner of the stolen pick-up truck. He was apparently involved in the chase with police and even passed squad cars during the incident.
Combs has been arrested on the charge of reckless driving, failure to yield for an emergency vehicle, failure to signal when required and illegal transportation of alcohol.
He was released on an individual bond and given a court date of June 3rd in Oregon.
