The day after Dennis Hastert admitted abusing boys he coached decades ago, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is calling for an end to the statute of limitations on sex crimes against children.
Prosecutors were not able to charge Hastert with sex crimes, even though victims have now come forward, because the alleged acts happened about 30-years ago. Madigan has suggested such a legal change before, but says sometimes a high-profile incident like the Hastert case can illustrate that a problem exists.
