Illinois is getting shot down again by the Federal Emergency Management Agency regarding its request for assistance for local governments after flooding this past winter. The state appealed FEMA's original denial earlier this month, and was also turned down on a request for federal money to help residents and businesses impacted by the flooding in December and January.
The state was seeking about 17-million dollars. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency's director said Friday the rejection was because of the inability of larger urban areas to meet damage thresholds.
