A DeKalb County judge made it official Friday-- dropping murder charges against 76-year old Jack McCullough for the 1957 killing of a seven-year-old girl in Sycamore. McCullough was sentenced to life in 2012 for abducting and killing Maria Ridulph after a conviction based on the testimony of a woman who was with Ridulph when she was snatched from a Sycamore Street.
That conviction was called into question last year when State's Attorney Richard Schmack said evidence was excluded that would have shown McCullough was elsewhere when the kidnapping happened.
The dead girl's family wants a special prosecutor brought in, but the judge has yet to decide on that motion.
