Hope of Ogle County, who helps victims of domestic violence in the area, remains concerned about state funding in the future since no budget has been approved for the current fiscal year by state lawmakers.
The organization had talked about making cuts in services and staff earlier this year until funds finally came from Springfield. Executive Director Ruth Carter said they received state money in January and are in good shape for the current fiscal year.
Carter was a guest yesterday on the program "Let The People Know" along the Adriana Milan from the City of Rochelle.
She said that it's tough to put a budget together right now not knowing what they will receive in state funding. She said that no future program can be planned
Hope of Ogle County will have their 2nd Annual Cinco 5K runs and walk on May 7th at 1pm. All of the funds raised from the event will go back into the program that helps victims of domestic violence.
The 5K also ties into the Cinco de Mayo event on May 7th in the downtown area of Rochelle between 4 and 7 for area residents to enjoy.
