The Ogle County board heard a presentation last night from a Chicago architect firm dealing with a new detention center in the near future.
HOK gave 2 proposals for county officials to consider. Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle said that 1 proposal has 180 beds while the other has 200. Both have 32 beds for juveniles arrests
The capacity of the Ogle County jail at the present time is 110 prisoners. They average 135 inmates per day in Oregon.
Will it be tough to find a location in Oregon for the new jail? Sheriff VanVickle said that the county owns several properties in Oregon they are currently considering.
Jeremy Ciesel has been named the acting county engineer. He replaces Curtis Cook who announced his resignation last February effective April 30th. Cook had held the position for 24 years. Ciesel has been with the county's engineering department for 5 years.
The board took no action last night on the special use permit for a Motor Carrier Facility along Route 72 in rural Forreston as it was tabled. A change in the property is expected in the proposal.
Appointments last night included Wayne Reising of Oregon with the Regional Planning Commission along with Randy Ocken of Polo to the Zoning Board of Appeals. James Reed of Chana was also appointed as an alternate to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
