Nearly four years after he was convicted of the 1957 murder of a seven-year-old girl, 76-year-old Jack McCullough GOT out of prison today. A DeKalb County judge vacated McCullough's conviction after prosecutors revealed new evidence they say eliminates the possibility that McCullough was responsible for the abduction and murder of Maria Ridulph of Sycamore.
The long-cold case was revived in 2011 when a friend of the dead girl identified McCullough as Maria's abductor. His 2012 conviction was called into question when DeKalb County State's Attorney Richard Schmack says evidence showed McCullough was miles from the abduction scene when Maria was taken from a Sycamore street corner.
