Attorneys for Dennis Hastert say the former U.S. House Speaker has no recollection of alleged sexual abuse. A former high school wrestler claims the abuse occurred decades ago when Hastert was his coach. That witness will testify at Hastert's upcoming sentencing hearing in his hush money case, but attorneys are working to minimize the impact of those abuse claims on his sentence.
Hastert has pleaded guilty to banking violations in his attempt to hide more than one-point-seven-million-dollars he paid to another former wrestler to keep his silence about Hastert's past conduct. Prosecutors say that conduct included the abuse of as many as five students.
