Rust a problem in the Hillcrest water system

Village officials in Hillcrest are looking at correcting the problem in connection with rust in the water system at several homes.

Village President Steve Dodson said that the majority of the problem is on Hillcrest, Jeffrey, and Scott Avenues.

Water technician Jerry Bevers of DeKalb plans to look at the system and try to determine why there is rust in the water. Bevers has been involved with the water system in Hillcrest for many years.

The board aproved the intergovernmental agreement with WhiteRock Township. The township plows Bethel and Lind Roads in the winter as the village pays for the work done.

Hillcrest along with the township will share on the costs of any maintenance work involving the roads.

Village officials approved the purchase of a valve exerciser and cleaner for the water department at a cost of just over 52 hundred dollars. The sanitary sewer project was tabled to a future meeting.

There will be no parking in the future on both sides of the pavement of Hillcrest Avenue between Illinois 251 and Wayne Road due to the increase in traffic. The signs will be posted in the next few weeks.

The attorney fee for any court appearances representing the village will be $210 an hour.

A white poodle running loose recently bit a woman in the village. Dodson said thye would like to contact the owner of the dog about the incident that took place in the Windover subdivision.
