The approval of 2 million dollars in general obligation school bonds along with the hiring of a company for technology services topped the discussion last night for the Rochelle elementary board.
The working cash bonds will be used for 2 purposes in the district. Superintendent Todd Prusator said that the tax rate would increase by 20 cents over a 4 year period.
The health and life safety work will be a masonry project at Central, May, and Tilton Grade Schools. The rest of the money will be used in the budget due to the lack of state funds.
The board heard an update report on the consolidation feasibility study. It includes the district along with RTHS and the Kings and Eswood School Districts.
School officials hope to have information some time in June of July from the report.
There has been no talk on consolidation in any of the districts at this time.
The board approved the purchase of 1 new school bus with trade-in along with the lease of 8 other buses. The district has also hired Aero Group from Freeport for technology services.
The cost for an on-site person for 40 hours per week and 12 months out of the year is $71,000.
German Valley and Rock Falls School Districts also use this company.
School officials met in executive session to talk about personnel in the district. No action was taken.
