DeKalb County Sheriff's Police arrested an Evanston teen early Sunday morning after he attempted to strike several people with the car he was driving in connection with a fight.
The altercation began a short time after 3am when deputies responded to a fight in the front yard of 910 West Hillcrest Drive involving 6 people.
Reports indicate that a car driven by 19-year old Gerardo Patino was used to try to run over several of the people fighting. His vehicle then struck a deputy's squad car. Patino then tried to run over several more people.
A friend of Patino who was involved in the fight, 18-year old Quinn Cahill of Evanston, got into the car as the 2 teens fled the scene.
The car was located a short time later driving recklessly on I-88. The vehicle was then located at the DeKalb Oasis by sheriff's police and the Illinois State Police. Following a short foot chase, both teens were taken into custody.
Patino has been arrested on the charge of 2 counts of aggravated assault. He also received several traffic tickets which included reckless driving, fleeing to elude police, and leaving the scene of an accident. Patino was also found in violation of the zero tolerance law.
Quinn was arrested on the charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver.
The Evanston teens were transported to the DeKalb County jail with no bond set following the arrest. No one suffered any injuries from the incident.
