For the 6th year in a row, the Byron High School Cheerleading Team has qualified for the State Finals in Bloomington.
The girls finished in 2nd place in the Small Division Saturday at the DeKalb Sectional. They had a score of 83.20. Somonauk High School won the Sectional with a score of 85.43.
It will be Byron High School's 9th appearance at the State Finals.
The top 5 cheerleading teams in each division qualify for the State Finals. In the Small Division, Stillman Valley High School finished in 7th place, Oregon High School 12th, and Winnebago High School 18th place.
The Rochelle Township High School Cheerleading Team finished in 7th place in the Medium Division with a score of 82.63. Yorkville High School and Rockford Lutheran High School qualified for the State.
In the Large Division, Rockford Guilford High School will go to the State Finals. Belvidere North and Hononegah High Schools also qualified in the COED Division.
The Cheerleading State Finals will be held this Friday and Saturday at the U.S. Coliseum in Bloomington.
