A judge is delaying sentencing for a former U.S. house speaker. At a hearing in Chicago federal court yesterday morning the judge delayed Dennis Hastert's February 29th sentencing in his hush-money case because of Hastert's health issues.
Hastert pleaded guilty in November to breaking banking laws as he sought to pay someone over three-million dollars to conceal prior misconduct. He is recuperating from several ailments including a stroke and his sentencing date is now set for April 8th.
