An Ogle County judge set bond at $100,000 for a Rochelle man after being arrested on the felony offense of residential burglary and obstructing justice.
32-year old Jorge Alejandro Delgado was arrested on Wednesday as he was wanted by Ogle County authorities for several days on 3 warrants. The warrants had nothing to do with the new felony charges.
The break-in took place at a home in rural Rochelle on January 18th. Delgado was also known to use several names for his identity.
In court yesterday, a public defender was appointed in the case. Delgado returns to court on February 10th for a preliminary hearing. At that time, he will plead guilty or innocent to the felony charges.
Rochelle police also believe Delgado was involved in the 2 robberies that took place this month in the Hub City.
The first incident occurred on January 3rd at Lupita Supermarket on North Main Street. The other robbery took place Tuesday night at the Shell gas station near the intersection of Route 38 and Lincoln Highway.
In both robberies, money was taken from the cash register. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the grocery store while around $150 was grabbed from the cash register at Shell.
Ogle County State's Attorney Eric Morrow said that no charges have been filed at this time against Delgado in the 2 robberies. He expects that to be done in the near future for the Class 2 felony of burglary.
Delgado remains in jail in lieu of the $100,000 bond.
