The next major project Rochelle officials are looking at deals with the expansion of the city's railroad.
During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", Gredco Director Jason Anderson talked about the project. He said that the city is near its capacity as they have around 11,000 railcars a year.
The extension of the city rail would go south towards Steward. Anderson said they need to build a yard which would have a series of tracks between 4,000 to 6,500 feet long. He beleives that the city will eventually have between 25,000 to 30,000 railcars a year.
At the present time, the city has between 80 to 100 trains each day that travel through Rochelle. There are 11 railroad crossings.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
