The Rochelle Elementary School District has received a grant that totals $100,000 that will go for the before and after school Hub program.
The money was donated by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.
The money will be used for the 2016-17 school year. It will cover 75 percent of the cost for the school district.
The Hub program started after the school district received a 5-year, 21st Century Learning Community Grant in the fall of 2012. The program currently has over 300 students who may be having problems in the classroom learning a particular subject.
The grant money will be used for programs during the fiscal year along with paying for salaries.
This is the 2nd $100,000 grant the Rochelle Elementary School District has received in the past 2 months.
Rochelle Middle School teacher Vic Worthington was 1 of 6 winners in the Dream Big Teacher Challenge sponsored by Farmers Insurance.
