Illinois is one of 21 states that had more gun deaths in 2014 than motor vehicle deaths, according to a new report from the Violence Policy Center. The Washington, DC-based non-profit group says there were one-thousand-179 gun deaths and one-thousand-75 motor vehicle fatalities.
According to the report, there were just ten states in this category in 2009. There were also more gun deaths than motor vehicle deaths in the neighboring states of Indiana and Missouri.
