In area news, Rockford police have arrested 4 teens following an attempted armed robbery Saturday morning on the southwest side of the city.
1 of the teens arrested was a 14-year old who was also charged last week in connection with the theft of a car.
Police say that a 38-year old Rockford man was walking when a stolen sports utility vehicle drove up along side him with 4 black male teens in the car.
2 got out ot the SUV and pushed the victim down on the ground. 1 pointed a gun at him and demanded money. The male subject then ran from the scene.
A short time later, police found the sports utility vehicle and arrested the 4 teens. Police found a BB gun in the vehicle.
A 15-year old from Rockford was driving the car. He was charged with attempted armed robbery, aggravated battery, along with fleeing to elude police. He was also ticketed for several traffic violations and a juvenile probation warrant.
The other 3 teens, 2 14 year olds and a 16 year old, were also charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery.
Rockford police received reports of at least 18 armed robberies that took place last week in the city.
