RTHS board approves consolidation feasibility study

In a 4-2 vote last night, the Rochelle Township High School board approved a proposal dealing with a consolidation feasibility study.

The Rochelle elementary board along with  officials in the Eswood and Kings school district have also agreed to be part of the study. The school districts in Rochelle will share in the $15,000 cost involving the information.

The districts will received 3 studies. 1 involves the consolidation of all 4 schools districts. The other 2 studies has only the 3 elementary districts and consolidation of the 2 districts in Rochelle. The information is expected to be completed in 3 to 4 months.

RTHS Superintendent Jame Craven said that no one has talked about any mergers at this time. He said each school district will make a decision best for their students once the information is collected.

The board received word that the ACT tests will not be taken during the school day this year and that they are still waiting on information from the state about the SAT test. The district will take the PARCC exam later this year.

Bus lease bids were approved that totaled just over $164,000 a year.

The RTHS board will meet in special session on January 29th at 7:30 in the morning for a student discipline matter.
