Park officials in Rochelle have rejected the first 10-year license agreeement proposal dealing with a Dekhockey program for area residents. The vote was 6-0 as Michael Cruz was absent from the meeting.
The 50 by 100 square foot rink would be located at Cooper Park. The facility would include a trailer, lights, and bleachers. The total cost would not exceed $125,000 for the park district.
Board President Roger Bunger said they want everything down in writing involving the deal. This includes possible money from the city.
Some of the concerns include the costs on if the project exceeded $125,000 along with no rink being built in the area that would compete with Rochelle.
QC Deckhockey President Patrick Levesque said he is still interested in having this program in Rochelle.
He hopes to begin operations in the middle of April. Dekhockey will pay for the staff while the park district will handle the electric costs.
The basketball court would also be removed from Cooper Park if the rink is built.
