Rochelle elementary board meeting

2 million dollars of working cash bonds along with a dual language program topped the discussion last night by the Rochelle elementary board.

School officials held a public hearing dealing with the working cash bonds. Superintendent Todd Prusator said that the money will be used on several projects over a 3 year period.

The bonds will be issued due to the lack of state funds along with life safety work in the district.

The board talked about the bus lease and purchase proposal. The district plans to lease 8 schools buses along with the purchase of 1 bus and selling 1 in the process.

A presentation was heard dealing with Central School and a possible dual language program. This would include both English and Spanish. Prusator said that the program will start with kindergarten students and work its way up each year.

If the school board approves the proposal, it would begin during the 2017-18 school year.

The board met in executive session to talk about personnel in the district. No action was taken.
