Rochelle teen back in court following fatal accident

A Rochelle teen was back in Ogle County court yesterday for a status hearing after being charged with the Class 4 felony of aggravated reckless driving.

The arrest stems from a crash last summer that killed a college student from Kings.

19-year old Emily Jahnke was indicted by an Ogle County grand jury for the felony offense.

19-year old Anna Speed suffered fatal injuries from the accident.

The crash took place the night of June 10th northeast of Creston in the 18,000 block of East Gillis Road. The jeep Jahnke was driving struck a utility pole.

The teen along with a front passenger in the vehicle suffered injuries and received treatment at area hospitals.

In court yesterday, Jahnke was given a pre-trial conference date of March 14th in Oregon. She is out of jail following the posting of 10 percent of a $10,000 bond.

Jahnke is currently a college student in Kentucky.

No other charges have been filed at this time by Ogle County officials.
