Rochelle police are investigating a robbery which took place yesterday evening at a grocery store in the downtown area. No one suffered any injuries
A short time after 6, a white male subject entered Lupita Supermarket at 409 North Main Street and asked the worker for some change. When the employee opened the cash register, the suspect grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and then ran from the store.
The individual ran south bound down Main Street being chased by the owner of the business. Reports indicate the suspect ran into the laundromat at Main Street and 1st Avenue for a short period of time before leaving south.
Police say that no weapon was used during the robbery. The white male subject was in his 40's with a grey beard and heavyset.
The individual was wearing a white hat, jeans, a black winter coat along with work boots.
No arrest has been made at this time.
