Lee County officials continue to release little information in the arrest of 2 Chillicothe brothers involving the murder of a Peoria man in the summer of 1983.
68-year old Terry Bobell along with his brother, 65-year old Gordon, were arrested this week and charged with 3 counts of first degree murder.
The case involves the death of Gary Dawson of Peoria on August 28th, 1983. Dawson's body was found in a hog lot south of Franklin Grove. He had been beaten to death.
The Bobell brothers appeared in Lee County court for the 1st time on Wednesday. Bond remains at 1 million dollars as they return to court on January 6th for a preliminary hearing in Dixon.
Both men remain in jail in lieu of bond.
A 3rd person has been arrested in this case. 58-year old Steven Watts of Berryville, Arkansas was arrested in February of 2013 on the charge of first degree murder. The case has never gone to trial in Lee County at this time and Watts is out of jail after posting bond.
Lee County Sheriff John Simonton said that they can not comment any further involving the case. He said that this is a complex investigation dealing with suspects, witnesses, and others with information on a 32 year old homicide.
Lee County officials are not commenting on what led to the arrest of the 2 Chillicothe men this week.
