Chicago police are admitting that a 55-year-old mother of five was accidentally struck and killed in a police-involved shooting that left two people dead which included a college student from NIU.
Authorities say an officer responding to a domestic disturbance call early Saturday ended up fatally shooting Bettie Jones and 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier. The Chicago Police Chief of Detectives says officers were "confronted by a combative subject, resulting in an officer firing shots, fatally wounding two individuals."
LeGrier was a student at NIU in DeKalb and was home for the holidays.
