A lawyer for the former Chicago police officer charged in the shooting death of Laquan McDonald wants the murder trial held somewhere else.
Attorney Dan Herbert and his client Jason Van Dyke appeared in court Friday for a brief hearing.
Herbert told the judge the ex-cop couldn't get a fair trial in Cook County given the intense media coverage of the case.
Van Dyke has been free on one-point-five-million-dollars bail since November 30th. He's due back in court on December 29th.
