Rochelle Mayor expects a new look for the downtown area in 2016

The Rochelle Brand Leadership Team is scheduled to come to a council meeting next month as they request funds for future changes in the downtown area.

The proposal announced last May included a downtown plaza and a public market. There would also be over 250 days a year in which events and activities would take place.

During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson said that the downtown area will have a different look a year from now.

He said that renovation work will continue on the Hub Theater along with developers looking to open businesses.

He also talked about the plan the Brand Leadership Team is working on. He said it's a proposal for 3 to 5 years.
Olson said that the money the group is requesting from the city would pay for engineering costs for the downtown area. He said that the city needs a visual look for residents dealing with future changes in the Hub City.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
