Rochelle City Council Meeting

Gredco Director Jason Anderson

City officials in Rochelle approved an agreement tonight for a Lee Ogle enterprise zone involving the area. The vote was 6-0 as Councilman Don Burke was absent from the meeting.

The application for the enterprise zone will include Rochelle, Dixon, along with Ogle and Lee Counties as it totals 96 hundred acres. Rochelle Gredco Director Jason Anderson said that the tax abatement would be 50 percent for 6 years.

The enterprise zone deals with commercial, retail, and industrial projects. It would be a first for Ogle County.

Anderson said that the enterpise zone is very important in landing new businesses to the area and keeping current companies at their location.

The applications are due to the state at the end of the month. The 12 enterprise zones will be announced next September.

The council approved the 2015 tax levy as the city's EAV is at 237.6 million dollars. Rochelle would collect 2.2 million dollars in property taxes under the levy.

City officials plan to meet next month for a work session dealing with the strategic plan involving Rochelle. 2 special meetings have already be held.

Appointments last night included Roy Jones and John "Skip" Kenney to the Airport Advisory Board.

The Council also approved a St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival on March 12th along with a "Lucky Hub Dash" event.

The Council met in executive session to talk about the lease or sale of property. No action was taken.
