Protest over police abuse continues in Chicago. Yesterday, close to 100 medical students held a die-in demonstration outside Chicago City Hall. The group laid on the ground in silence for 16 minutes. This symbolized the 16 times black teen Laquan McDonald was shot and killed by white police officer Jason Van Dyke in October of 2014.
The med students, from University of Chicago and Rush University, called for the resignation of Mayor Emanuel. They also believe excessive violence by police officers is a public health crisis, as well as a public safety issue.
Additional protests are schedule today in Chicago as groups want Mayor Emanuel to resign.
