The lack of a state budget in Illinois continues to have a strong impact at universities and community colleges in the state.

The reduction of state fuding has forced several schools to cut staff and programs due to the lack of money.

During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", Kishwaukee College President Dr. Tom Choice talked about the problems they are faced with. The state owes the college 5 million dollars.

He said that school officials are waiting to see if an agreement on the state budget will come soon by lawmakers and the Governor before any final decisions are made about layoffs.

Dr. Choice said that if nothing has been done by the end of January, then school officials will have to make some decisions about staff and programs. He said that a plan is in place for the college.

Dr. Choice will retire at the end of the month following 15 years at Kish. 9 have been as President at the college.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newsalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
