Co-workers along with friends and family attended an open house yesterday for Kishwaukee College President Dr. Tom Choice who plans to retire at the end of the month.
Dr. Choice has been at Kish for the past 15 years. He was the 4th president at the college for the past 9 years.
He said the retirement came up quickly in his career due to the possible pension changes from state lawmakers.
Dr. Choice said that 1 of the projects he is most proud of involved the addition and renovation work at the college that included a student center, science labs, and a health career wing.
Dr. Choice said that Kish was a special place to work due to the staff and students. His future plans are to take a vacation in January with his wife and then go back into the classroom and teach at the college level.
Officials at Kishwaukee College in Malta have yet to name their new president. There are 4 candidates on the final list.
A decision by the Board of Trustees may be made by the end of the month.
