City officials in Rochelle have yet to make a final decision on the future of the "Fairways" golf course in the Hub City.
Last month, The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District board approved to keep the golf course open for the next 10 years. They would spend $75,000 each year during this time period. The proposal would have the city paying the same amount of money.
The Flagg-Rochelle Park Foundation would managed the 18 holes.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", City Manager David Plyman talked about the possible agreement. He said nothing has been put in writing about the proposal, but both the city and park district are working on the contract.
The city and park district currently have 2 years remaining on an agreement to keep the golf course open after this season.
Plyman also talked about the future of the restaurant building which remains closed. He said that they have 2 local prospects for the facility. He said that the city would like to have a tenant in the building in the very near future.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
Next week's guest will be Kishwaukee Community College President Dr. Tom Choice who plans to retire at the end of the month.
