The holiday spirit will be in Rochelle this weekend as the Old Fashioned Christmas walk will be held tonight and on Saturday in the Hub City.
The lighted parade kicks things off at 5:30 this evening followed by the lighting of the community tree at City Hall at 6. This year's parade theme is "Disney in Rochelle". The host is LULAC of Rochelle.
Bed races will also run down Lincoln Highway at 6:30.
A new event this year is the Christmas Market featuring arts, crafts, and a farmer's market inside the former Moore's Hardware building. The market will be open from 4 until 8 today and 9 until noon on Saturday.
The Christmas Tree Festival also continues at City Hall until 6:30 this evening. Money raised this year goes to the Rochelle Community Action Network.
There will be plenty of food in the downtown area. The Rochelle Fire Department plans to cook pork chop sandwiches. The Masonic Temple will have chili and soup while the Hub City Senior Center will serve creamed chicken over biscuits with mash potaoes, peas, a dessert, and a drink.
The entertainment features Mike Schneider and the Pintsize Polkas.
