Ogle County Sheriff's Police arrested a Stillman Valley man on Saturday after they responded to a report of a person who had attempted to commit suicide with a firearm.
When officers arrived on the scene, 49-year old Brian Ray of rural Stillman Valley said that the 911 call was a hoax, but he refused to let the deputies inside the home. Police say that Ray was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Sheriff's Police returned to the home several hours later as Ray attempted to flee the area on foot. He was arrested a short time later.
Ray has been charged with the Class 4 felony offense of resisting arrest along with the Class 3 felony of disorderly conduct for making the fraudulent 911 call. A deputy received a minor injury during the arrest.
Other charges include the Class 4 felony of unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a sawed off shotgun, and interference with civil process service.
Ray has been released from jail after posting 10 percent of the $20,000 bond. He will appear in court on the charges on December 18th in Oregon.
