The 10th Annual Rochelle Christmas Tree Festival begins today as all proceeds this year will benefit the Community Action Network also known as "C.A.N."
The Christmas Tree Festival is a silent auction that takes place each holiday season at Rochelle City Hall. Local businesses, organizations and individuals donate decorated table top trees, wreaths, swags, and gift baskets. The bidding on the items ends next Friday at 6:30.
The Rochelle Community Action Network acts as a bridge between family and the community in providing resources in order to assist children in the area.
C.A.N. will soon be distributing new winter coats to many local children in need. Earlier this year, they distributed school supply filled backpacks to 350 kids.
They will also host their 19th annual Christmas shopping trip for local chidren next month.
The Christmas Tree Festival is part of the holiday events scheduled thist week in Rochelle. The Old Fashioned Christmas Walk will take place on Friday and Saturday which includes the Lighted Parade at 5:30 Friday evening and the community tree lighting ceremony at City Hall.
