The streets of Chicago were full of people yesterday as they protested the death of a black teen shot by a white police officer. Reverend Jesse Jackson says the march along Chicago's Magnificent Mile on the busiest shopping day of the year is to call attention to racism in the Chicago police department.
Mostly peaceful protests have taken place since dashcam video of the 2014 shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald by Officer Jason Van Dyke was released Tuesday. Van Dyke is charged with first-degree murder.
Many of the protesters wanted the firing of Chicago's Mayor, Police Superintendent, and Cook County State's Attorney.
Other demonstrations are expected this weekend in Chicago.
