A white Chicago Police officer accused of shooting his black victim 16 times is behind bars. Jason Van Dyke was charged yesterday with murder after the October 2014 shooting of teen LaQuan McDonald. The shooting near 41st and Pulaski was recorded on a police dash cam video. The footage was released to the public yesterday afternoon. Officer Van Dyke did not comment at the court hearing. But his attorney Dan Hebert warned the public against a rush to judgment after viewing the video footage. A Cook County judge has decided to hold Van Dyke without bail until he can personally view the video on Monday.
