A Chicago truck driver suffered injuries yesterday morning after he crashed his semi in Byron.
The accident took place a short time before 11:30 at the intersection of Route 72 and Route 2.
65-year old Raul Montenegro was hauling food products eastbound on Route 72. He failed to stop at the intersection at Route 2 and lost control of the tractor tailer. The semi rolled over on it's side and came to a stop down the embankment of the highway.
Montenegro had to be extricated from the cab area by Byron Fire Department personnel. He was then flown from the scene by Lifeline Helicopter to a Rockford hospital with multiple injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by Ogle County Sheriff's Police.
