Rochelle City Council meeting

An increase in health insurance coverage along with engineering agreements on 2 projects topped the discussion last night for city officials in Rochelle. Absent from last night's meeting were council members Tom McDermott and Kathy Hollonbeck.

The city will see a 6.1 percent increase for the coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The engineering agreements involved the Rochelle rail expansion and 7th Avenue Bridge. The figures totaled $54,000 and $44,000.

The engineering proposal for water main work on 20th Street and 8th Avenue was removed from the agenda.

The tax levy ordinance was talked about, but no action was taken.

The special use permit was sent back to the Planning and Zoning Commission for further discussion dealing with an outdoor storage area involving a local business. It would be located behind the former Pizza Hut building.

The city also plans to purchase skid load generators for RMU with a price tag of 1.6 million dollars along with a 5-year maintenance figure at just under $49,000.
