Area residents are feeling the impact of the first winter snow storm of the season.
Most roadways have some snow on them as the plows have been out since early this morning.
The National Weather Service has a winter storm warning in effect until 3 this afternoon.
An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected today which will give the area a total accumulation of 5 to 9 inches.
The problem today will be the wind with gust up to 30 miles per hour out of the north. There may not be that much blowing snow as it is very heavy.
The problem tonight will the cold temperatures which will hit at 3 to 7 above zero. The wind chills overnight and Sunday morning will be below zero.
From 9 tonight, the Ogle County Sheriff's Office will implement winter weather operations.
Any motorists involved in a minor accident should exchange information and then report the accident in person to the Ogle County Sheriff's Office (202 S. St. Oregon, IL 61061) during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. During winter weather operations stranded vehicles will not be removed unless they present a hazard
