First winter snow storm this weekend for the area

The first winter snow storm is expected to hit the area late tonight and Saturday morning which will make travel a problem for motorists.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 6 this evening through 3 tomorrow afternoon.

The majority of the snow will come after midnight and Saturday morning. Weather officials say that between 5 to 7 inches will accumulate overnight and an additional 2 to 4 inches tomorrow morning giving us between 7 to 11 inches of snow from the storm.

If the snow was not bad enough, temperatures are expected to be in the teens Saturday night with wind chills below zero. The high temperature on Sunday will be in the mid-20's.

Travel is expected to be difficult late tonight and early Saturday morning. Windy conditions are in the forecast for Saturday with gusts up to 30 miles per hour out of the north.
