The Rochelle Township High School board suspended discussions last night as they made no decision on the possibility of a consolidation feasibility study involving area school districts.
The cost of the study was going to be $15,000 which would have been shared by the 2 school districts in Rochelle. The Rochelle elementary school district along with officials in the Eswood school district were in favor of the study.
Creston and Steward schools districts were against the project. RTHS Superintendent Jamie Craven said they will wait for the Kings school board to make a decision before any further future action.
The Kings school board has yet to make a decision on the proposal.
The district plans to go out for bids in early January on the new addition and renovation work on the south building for the school buses. The project is expected to begin next Spring.
The tax levy was talked about last night. Craven said that the tax rate for the district is expected to go up by 4 cents to $2.58.
The board also approved the enterprise zone proposal for Ogle County dealing with new industries and commercial businesses. The application to the state would include Rochelle and Dixon along with Ogle and Lee Counties.
A total of 12 enterprise zones will be award in Illinois next year.
The district also plans to go out for bids on 38 new tables and 300 new chairs in the lunch room. The total cost will not exceed $40,000.
