Illinois could become one of the states along the path of a 780-mile transmission line carrying wind power from Kansas. The Illinois Commerce Commission approved the Grain Belt Express route through the state.
The line would carry four-thousand-megawatts of clean wind power farther east. It has already won approval from Kansas and Indiana. Missouri is the only state currently blocking the project.
