Hillcrest Board Meeting

Progress continues to be made in the construction of the medical marijuana cultivation facility in Hillcrest.

The building for PharmaCann will be located at the corner of Twombly and Dement Roads.

Hillcrest Building Inspector Casper Manheim said that the state has already given a permit to grow the marijuana in 1 room. He said that the facility will have around a dozen rooms where the cultivation process will take place.

The village is still in negotiations with Northern Illinois Disposal on a new 7-year solid waste contract. The monthly cost right now for a home owner is $9.83. That figure is expected to go up by around 3 dollars a month since Hillcrest has been paying the same rate for around 25 years.

A final decision on the contract is expected in December. It may include a curb side recyling program.

The board took care of some paper work for the sanitary sewer project on River Road and Ramona Avenue. It included a resolution involving the sewer loan.

The village plans to buy a snow plow for their truck at a cost of just over $6,300. The tax levy was also approved at $49,990 which is a 4.9 percent increase from a year ago.

Following an executive session which lasted a half hour, 5 people will be interviewed for the part-time maintenance man position on November 21st. Village President Steve Dodson and Trustee Rich Elliott will handle the interviews.

The Hillcrest village board will meet in special session on December 2nd at 7pm. The discussion will center around the future of the water department and sanitary sewer work.
