Park officials in Rochelle will have to make a decision in the next few months on the future use of the Helms Athletic Complex located near 9th street.
The AYSO program has decided to move their games near Lincoln School. The Rochelle Junior Tackle Football program still uses the fields for practise and play their games at the stadium.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen talked about the issue. He talked about the possibility of ball diamonds returning for the area.
Park officials are considering 2 recent proposals dealing with a Dekhocky program along with a pump track that could be used by individuals on a bike, roller blades, scooters, or skate boards.
Christensen said that they would have room at the Helms Athletic Complex for both activities....(Time: (:43), out: going).
The cost for the Dekhocky program would range between 100,000 to 150,000 dollars while the track has a cost of $34,000. No final decisions have been made at this time.
The program "Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
Next week's guest will be Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson.
