For the 2nd time in the past month, the Rochelle City Council along with department heads met for a strategic planning exercise.
The event was put together by Dr. Alicia Schatteman from NIU in DeKalb which involved a city plan for the next 3 to 5 years
The 3 main issues last night dealt with financial sustainability, economic development, and community well being.
Some of the goals included development of the downtown area, quality services from the city, along with a level debt service, and community pride.
Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson said that the 2 exercises have brought out some good ideas for the future.
He stressed that they are reachable goals for the community.
No action was taken by city officials during the "Committee of the Whole" meeting last night. A final report will be done by Schatteman which would be given to the council.
