Union workers at the Fiat Chrysler plant in Belvidere approved a new contract on Wednesday avoiding the possibility of a strike.
83 percent of the production line workers along with 63 percent of skilled trade employees ratified the deal. Key issues in the new contract included money and benefits.
Initial results indicate that the contract was approved by United Auto Workers around the country.
