Ogle County is looking at possibly having their own enterprise zone in the future.
This would be for new industries and commercial businesses in the area.
The board heard a presentation last night from Gredco Director Jason Anderson of Rochelle. He talked about the benefits of a enterprise zone which includes a tax abatement of 50 percent.
Anderson said that the application to the state would include Rochelle and Dixon along with Ogle and Lee Counties. Only 12 will be handed out by the state that involves 25 to 30 applications.
There are currently just over 1,000 acres reserved for enterprise zone usage. The application must be filed by December 31st of this year.
Anderson said the state will not make any announcements on new enterprise zones until September or October of 2016.
