Park officials in Rochelle tabled a vote last night dealing with the union contract and pay raises for non-union employees. A total of 4 workers belong to the union who have been working without a contract since March 1st.
Park board president Roger Bunger said that the information was different from what they thought was in the contract. The union had ratified the deal.
A special meeting may be held in the near future for further discussion of the contract.
The board did approve a new 5-year agreement with the Flagg Township Museum. It includes $25,750 the 1st year of the contract with an increase of 3 percent each year after that. The park district had been giving $25,000 for the museum each year.
A bid of $73,200 was approved for exterior improvements at the Spring Lake Marina. The board also rejected the bids for the Skare Park building which came in too high.
The board heard a presentation from Dekhockey involving an outdoor rink where you play hockey on shoes. The rink is 100 feet by 50 feet as each team has 3 players and a goalie.
The rink could possibly be located at Cooper Park.
Bunger said that the cost for the park district would be between 100,000 to 150,000 dollars.
Dekhockey does have 2 rinks in the Quad Cities area. No final decisions were made last night.
The financial report was given on the Spring Lake swimming pool. The facility lost around $35,000 this past summer.
